Activision-Blizzard has sold the intellectual property rights of the F.E.A.R. brand to Warner Bros., who in 2004 bought Monolith Productions.
While they had the rights to the technology behind F.E.A.R. they couldn’t command the brand and so Project Origin was born as the spiritual successor.
Now that the full breadth of the IP has been signed over to Warner Bros. and Monolith they have renamed Project Origin to F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin. It’s now officially a complete sequel to the franchise.
The game is being released on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on February 10th, 2009.
