What games are free this week on the Epic Games Store? Everything Listed for 2025. As the Epic Games Store enters its seventh year in 2025, it continues to provide a favorable revenue model where developers earn a larger portion of the proceeds from their games. In addition to hosting exclusive titles, the storefront continues to offer a growing list of free games each week.
Last year’s selection on the Epic Games Store featured a diverse array of games, including major AAA titles, unique indie games, and item packs for several free-to-play games. Highlights included Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, A Plague Tale: Innocence, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition, Thief, Dragon Age Inquisition – Game of the Year Edition, Chivalry 2, The Callisto Protocol, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria.
Continuing with this tradition, the lineup of free games available on the Epic Games Store in 2025 started with a strong showing in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. This article provides regular updates on all the new upcoming Free Games as they are released.
What's the next game free on Epic Games Store in 2025 and this week
- Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is now up for grabs until December 24. It’s part of the daily Christmas games that are given out each year, so make sure to visit the store every day until the Christmas period ends.
Since its debut at the end of 2018, the Epic Games Store’s free games list has generally expanded weekly. Notably, in the latter part of December, there were daily giveaways, a trend that will likely return in 2025.
To access these free titles, set up an EGS account, navigate to the storefront’s section dedicated to free games, and proceed as if making a regular purchase.
You must add the games to your cart, but they are free. However, to claim them, you must add them to your library during their free period, usually a week.
The Epic Games Store’s free games roster for 2025 is updated every Thursday at 8 AM PT/ 4 PM GMT, though this schedule has occasionally been interrupted.
Over the years, some games have appeared multiple times on the list. If you happen to miss any, it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the Epic Games Store’s various sales, where they might be available at a discounted price.

Godzilla Voxel Wars is a turn-based strategy game that plays out like a puzzle and takes place on 8x8 grids. Zoeti
Free on the Epic Games Store: November 20 - November 27

Universe for Sale
Free on the Epic Games Store: November 27 - December 4
Universe for Sale is a unique take on visual novels and point-and-click adventures. The setting? A space station “nestled in the clouds of Jupiter.” The narrative hook? A young woman who can apparently create entire universes in the palm of her hand. It sounds strange, but the best narrative-oriented video games dare to think outside the box. Hand-drawn art and animations only help seal an already enticing pitch here.
The Darkside Detective
Free on the Epic Games Store: December 4 - December 11
The Darkside Detective conjures up comedy and intrigue through a point-and-click adventure made up of nine “micro cases” which takes the player around Twin Lakes City. “Grab your trench coat, tune your sixth sense and join the Darkside Division as they investigate the outright bizarre, the downright dangerous and the confusing cases of Twin Lakes. Flesh-hungry tentacles, mafian zombies, and the occasional missing sock are no match for The Darkside Detective.” The pixel art is lovely too. Perfect for a cold December evening, we think.

Hogwarts Legacy
Free on the Epic Games Store: December 11 - December 18
WB Games and Avalanche Software’s Hogwarts Legacy has been revealed to be the special Game Awards-promoted title that Epic is giving away ahead of Christmas. Those coming in fresh should know it’s a massive open-world action-RPG set before the events of the Harry Potter books and movies.
The adventure isn’t limited to Hogwarts, as players can also explore the surrounding areas while tackling all sorts of small and mid-sized activities on top of the central questline. It’s the average modern open-world experience, but Potter-themed. Like it or not, Hogwarts Legacy became a mainstream hit in 2023, so this giveaway should end up being one of Epic’s biggest yet.
Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel
Free on the Epic Games Store: December 18 - December 19
Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel is one of the better roguelite horde-survivor (inspired by Vampire Survivors) games we’ve had recently, and after hitting 1.0 this year, Epic is now giving it away. Quite the Christmas present if you ask us.
The main appeal comes from its higher fidelity graphics and the use of Norse mythology. In-run missions, a varied roster of characters, and a combo system which puts it above most of its peers are only a handful of reasons why you spend time with this one… as long as you like filling the screen with FX and carnage.
Paradise Killer
Free on the Epic Games Store: December 22 - December 23
Paradise Killer puts a spin on what you’d normally expect from a detective game by having its action set in “a world outside reality,” where the island of Paradise regenerates every few millenia.
When the council charged with the whole process of rebirth is murdered, we step in to solve the case and discover the culprit. Blending investigative gameplay with puzzle elements, the title sees us encountering plenty of quirky characters, studying bizarre relics, and exploring a place quite unlike any other as we search for the truth.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
Free on the Epic Games Store: December 23 - December 24
If your holidays require a dose of gothic dark fantasy, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has got you covered. A spiritual successor to the old Castlevania games from none other than Koji Igarashi himself, the title blends side-scrolling action-RPG with exploration and puzzle-solving.
There’s a sizeable, dark, mysterious castle to explore alongside a plethora of foes to defeat while making your way to the alchemist who cursed you. If you were unsure which metroidvania to start after completing Silksong, you can’t go wrong with this Epic Games Store freebie.
