Unfortunately for the publishing giant the holiday season isn’t bringing as much cheer as their accountants would like as sales fall short.
They confirmed there will be a ”reduction of its product portfolio” in fiscal 2010, and with less staff. John Riccitiello is happy there’s been ”significant improvement” in product quality.
”We are disappointed that our holiday slate is not meeting our sales expectations,” said EA CEO Riccitiello, but was pleased to note that they ”saw significant improvement in the overall quality of our key products this year” and will continue to focus on quality.
”We will be launching several new titles and online games in fiscal 2010,” he added.
Analyst Colin Sebastian predicted that EA would need to take drastic steps after poor performances this holiday, despite admirable efforts from Dead Space, FIFA 09 and Left4Dead.
