Ubisoft’s Michael de Plater has expressed how bad it is for Microsoft to announce Ensembles closure, that lack of confidence in sales ”speaks of the problems with PC.”
De Plater has already explained why EndWar wasn’t launching on PC the same time as the console SKUs; piracy.
”I think it’s terrible, really a shame that Ensemble’s been shut,” Ubi’s Shanghai creative director Michael de Plater told VG247.
”It’s really a bit of a shock… It just speaks of the problems with PC. I’m sure if people were confident of PC sales then Microsoft wouldn’t have done that.”
Ensemble has a strong pedigree in PC development but even that wasn’t enough to keep the studio from the chopping block. In fact their last creation under the Ensemble name is even being released on PC; it’s Xbox 360’s Halo Wars.
”We are happy that Ensemble got to spend as much time as we did entertaining our fans over the last 12 years, and we would not be where we are without such a great bunch of people standing behind us. For what it is worth we thank you,” writes Ensemble.
