Microsoft’s Shane Kim has pledged the company is in it for the long haul this time as they plan to out commit Sony on their next-gen console.
Kim is also placing big hopes in the New Xbox Experience which is due this Wednesday on the 19th, and ”God willing, it will work.” Yes, a royal balls-up on the patch wouldn’t be good.
Many gamers of the Xbox 360 will be very happy to hear Microsoft isn’t going to drop interest in the console early, much like they did for the original Xbox. The corporate vice-pres also hopes that the NXE will draw a less ‘hardcore’ following as the social side of the console can start to bloom.
He had some kind words for Nintendo too when speaking with VentureBeat as he praised the company for managing to make something like Wii Fit hot property, despite being far from a true videogame.
”I can tell you how that conversation goes at Microsoft. They say, ‘I don’t think that’s a game,’” says Kim. ”But the guy at Nintendo says, ‘I don’t care. I’m selling a whole bunch of that stuff.’”
