The upcoming sequel will be using their brand new internally developed engine that was specifically put together for the game. Diablo III has been in development for four years.
They also spilled some imp-beans that the third instalment will be set 20 years after the events of Lord of the Destruction. There’s no word on a release schedule.
Blizzard’s VP Frank Pearce has said in an ongoing press conference that it’s going to use a ”brand new 3D engine that we developed in-house,” though they’ve yet to declare its name.
He also stated it was ”far too early in development for us to put a release date for it,” Pearce did confirm there to be a MAC version coming too.
The games length will be ”similar to Diablo II” and has drawn its inspirations from World of Warcraft and Zelda said lead designer Jay Wilson.
