Despite heavy rumours that money trouble was scuppering fans’ dreams of Aliens: Colonial Marines, developer Gearbox has come out swinging with job applications.
They’re looking to man all decks for their current projects according to the site, and they list the Aliens property as still ”in development”. SEGA’s silence wasn’t a kiss of death?
News that Gearbox were laying off some employees last fall and then whiffs of financial troubles in February had everyone brace for the dreaded news of its cancelation. It looks like the rough patch is over though with the studio confident to beef up its roster again.
Gearbox are also working on the ambitious shooter-RPG Borderlands - the one with a billion weapon combos - and three other secret projects. Sadly the Obsidian Aliens RPG was cancelled, though they’ve likely got their hands full with Alpha Protocol and the upcoming Fallout: New Vegas.
