Developer CCP has announced their 11th free expansion to MMO EVE Online. It’s called ‘Dominion’ and focuses on reworking the sovereignty system, making it much better.
Player control of territory and alliances will be thrust back into the forefront of gameplay with the expansions release this winter. It also adds the first COSMOS iteration; a social network.
While details on specific changes coming with Dominion are left unknown for now, CCP has revealed that subscriber feedback has been instrumental in developing this revamp. Player controlled territory was great, in theory, but alliances and corporations soon realised there was little incentive to keep them beyond brag rights.
COSMOS is the new social network tool for EVE Online that links character, corporation and alliance profiles together; a new mail and contacts system. Meanwhile the anticipated ‘walking in stations’ feature has been named ‘Incarna’; it will not be a part of the winter update.
EVE Fanfest 2009 is fast approaching, it will likely spill many secrets and features for the upcoming expansions. As well as dish more on console exclusive DUST 514.
