The Witcher developer CD Projekt has been bought by the Polish tech firm Optimus, with the company paying in shares which are now owned by the studios current bosses.
This has effectively given CD Projekt a way to become a publicly-traded company so they can get themselves on the Warsaw stock exchange, without as much red tape hassle.
Aside from developing the critically acclaimed The Witcher RPG for PC, CD Projekt also own and operate the digital distribution site ‘Good Old Games’ focusing on classic PC titles.
CD Projekt has effectively been bought out by Optimus but because it was paid for through shares, the current studio owners remain the boss. Really it was CD Projekt who acquired Optimus if you think about it. Let’s be honest, all that we care about is The Witcher 2.
