Alex Ward of Criterion has twittered a teasing line that could indicate they’re bringing some old skool back to the franchise, but a later comment casts almost certain doubt.
He provides his twitter fans with ”a return to the original 3DO version” of Need For Speed, but he adds it lists what he’s playing and ”not making fellas..” Be careful how you twitter I guess.
”Red lining it all the way and making it pay” - a return to the original 3DO version of The Need for Speed,” twittered Ward, which naturally got some attention after EA revealed Criterion were now working on a Need for Speed title.
”Need to bring in 3DO collection to work tomorrow. Only have NFS and Road Rash here at the office. Must order ‘Mad Dog McCree’ next..” was his next entry, but Ward seems to have cottoned on that some people think he’s spilled a major thing on their project.
”Hmm nobody worked out that our NFS game is a shooter in the style of Mad Dog McCree then….this lists what I am playing not making fellas..” There you have it, no, the Criterion Need for Speed project isn’t going all 3DO; it’s just what he’s playing at the moment.
