Banjo-Kazooie and Goldeneye developer Rare are ”intimately involved” with Xbox 360’s ambitious Project Natal, ”in a number of different dimensions.”
While not willing to dish the dirt on what that means exactly, Shane Kim reveals they’re doing ”an awful lot” with the technology even outside the videogaming ‘norm’, he teased.
Microsoft of course entrusted the development of NXE’s avatars to Rare so it’s not surprising they’re letting them run wild with ideas for Project Natal. ”Rare is intimately involved with Project Natal in a number of different dimensions,” Xbox Supreme Overlord Shane Kim told Kotaku.
”They’re doing an awful lot of work, even outside the traditional game space, I would say.”
”Unfortunately I can’t go into a lot of detail about that. Rare is alive and well and really having a broader impact on the entire Xbox world than just doing the games they traditionally have in the past,” added Kim. Whatever Rare has cooking you can bet it’ll have avatars involved somewhere, and given Natal’s facial recognition abilities… hmm…
