The march edition of US PlayStation Magazine reveals Namco plan to launch a ‘rebirth’ of the franchise and not some sequel, prequel or tacky spin-off either.
Volatile Games are handling the development and the game is known as ‘Dead to Rights’. This new breed will have heavier emphasis on close hand-to-hand combat.
The game is mentioned only for PS3 but it’s likely Namco would want to maximise the impact of this new and evolved Dead to Rights by spreading it to Xbox 360. While still a third-person action game and starring Jack Slate, there has been one plot alteration with canine companion Shadow the dog.
No longer a slick trained police dog, Shadow is found as a stray but is no less lethal and will look after the player when taking cover says the mag, reports 1UP. They add this ”new beginning” adopts a Jason Bourne like style to the franchise, but with added frothing mutt.
There’s no official announcement from Namco Bandai yet.
