In a bid to ”expedite the repair process” of Xbox 360’s suffering from RROD, Microsoft has decided to ditch the ‘coffin’ box they send out to customers.
This allows us to send our bricked consoles to them faster; all we need do is slap a pre-paid e-label on our own box and send it off straight away. Where does one get a 360 box?
As of May 26th the coffin box policy was scrapped ”in an effort to expedite the repair process.” Instead an e-label will be given to be printed and slapped on a box of your own to provide.
”Customers can now ship their consoles themselves using an e-label provided by Microsoft and do not need to wait for an empty box to be shipped to them,” a Microsoft rep told Joystiq.
Is this really all for our benefit, or just a method for Microsoft to cut back some costs? We have to print e-labels with our ink on our paper after all…
