First Microsoft declared they want their own LucasArts magic from Halo, now Epic seems intent on etching Gears of War into cult history too.
IGN managed to extract a hint from Joshua Ortega, lead writer for Gears 2, that Epic may develop a prequel game and it could happen within a decade. "Gears is long-term."
"You will not be disappointed in the next ten years," Ortega said at the New York Comic Con. "It's a ten-year plan. Gears is long-term. The lancer is the new lightsaber."
It's believed such a prequel would deal with the events of 'E-Day', the rather unpleasant moment the Locust decided to emerge from the ground and devalue the human property market causing a credit crunch of biblical proportions.
More singleplayer DLC seems to be on the books as well for Gears of War 2. "Keep watching," Ortega said, reports IGN. "You won't be disappointed."
