Atom Brain Games has revealed a point-and-click adventure game based on H.P. Lovecraft’s The Dunwich Horror.
Following the 2023 point-and-click adaptation of Dreams in the Witch House, Finnish solo developer Antti Laakso has returned with more cosmic horror mystery in Dunwich Horror, which takes inspiration from classic point-and-click adventures, but also comes with some light RPG elements.
The story of Dunwich Horror takes place after Wilbur Whateley’s failed attempt to steal the Necronomicon from Miskatonic University. Professor Armitage thought it was over. But that was just the beginning of a new nightmare.
Dunwich is in panic. The Whateley farmhouse has exploded, and rumors spread of an invisible monster roaming the hills.
With Dr. Rice and Dr. Morgan at his side, Armitage sets out for the dreaded and degenerate town of Dunwich. If there is indeed a cosmic threat, only Armitage can stop it with his occult knowledge.
But first, he must learn Wilbur’s true purpose. And what exactly is wrong in that godforsaken town?
What Armitage discovers is far more twisted and catastrophic than anyone could imagine. The fate of Dunwich, perhaps even the whole world, rests in the hands of the aging professor.

Dunwich Horror Trailer Points to a Terrifying Mystery
Dunwich Horror features four playable characters, each with their own abilities and perspectives on the unfolding terrors. The game also features a day-night cycle that sees the threat in Dunwich grow over time, with multiple endings determined by your choices throughout the story.
Laakso is going for an authentic, faithful adaptation of The Dunwich Horror, and is lovingly crafting the world of that story with 320 x 180 hand-drawn pixel art visuals and an original soundtrack from Call of Cthulhu and Dreams in the Witch House composer Troy Sterling Niles.
You can wishlist Dunwich Horror on Steam now. There is currently no set release date, though.
