Microsoft have updated their Xbox.com website to parade words like ”exclusive” and ”partnership” around the dashboard update which sees a meatier Netflix.
Well, in the US anyway. It boasts you’re only able to ”instantly stream” TV and movies from Netflix to the TV via the Xbox 360, the only console ”to offer this”. So, Netflix itself isn’t exclusive?
”This exclusive partnership offers you the ability to instantly stream movies and TV episodes from Netflix to the television via Xbox 360,” reads the Xbox.com site.
”Xbox 360 will be the only game console to offer this movie-watching experience, available to Xbox LIVE Gold members who are also Netflix unlimited plan subscribers, at no additional cost.”
This is all thanks to the summer dashboard update which sees the Xbox 360 packing a better Netflix, the Avatar Marketplace and the new Games on Demand service. The latter seems to be causing some fuss over pricing differences between regions, big differences.
Netflix hasn’t explicitly said they would be providing their content exclusively on the Xbox 360 console, and have hinted their interest in spreading out to other platforms before. Microsoft spouting the ‘exclusive’ word could just be them referring to this particular feature perhaps?
