Now that Red Baron creator Damon Slye has all the legal papers back from Activision Blizzard, he’s free to give us more of the classic flying antics. Something new planned.
The whole thing’s a ”strange boomerang” experience for him, they never expected ”to see it again.” A new Red Baron will have ”emphasis on the human” so no quick, cheap thrill tricks.
”I have a lot of ideas for the design,” Slye tells Eurogamer. ”There is a lot of value in the name Red Baron. It’s one of a kind.” The original is 19 years old as it retailed back in 1990.
”Red Baron is a special game for me. We were passionate about making the greatest game ever!”
When Slye and his development studio Mad Otter Games got a hold of the Red Baron rights again they contacted CD Projekt’s Good Old Games, and have put up the three titles bundled together for a mere $9.99. Fully compatible with Windows XP and Vista.
”The strange thing is that I was not looking to acquire them - it just fell into our lap,” revealed Slye.
”We built a great game back in 1989, and launched it into the world, never expecting to see it again. The whole experience feels like some strange boomerang blown by the winds of fate unerringly back to its source.” A future Red Baron will be a simulator over quick thrills.
