That it took this long is surprising. Russia has decided they don’t want Modern Warfare 2 ‘as is’ because of the airport level controversy.
Although it’s entirely an optional level, as is the murder of civilians, Russia want it edited out. Infinity is complying with PC already patched.
Current versions of the sequel have been pulled from shelves while the new edited version for Russian gamers is shipped to retail outlets. Another point of contention appears to be the US versus Russia storyline in the game, even though it’s pure fiction.
The airport massacre is an optional level within Modern Warfare 2 and can be skipped, even so you don’t have to shoot any civilians yourself if you play it - just security forces. The game warns you about possibly disturbing content that may come up.
An overreaction or something anyone would do if the level was on their turf?
