In Square Enix’s fiscal report they save some ink for Eidos, where they identify the ”major” properties with the British publisher.
Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Hitman and even Kane & Lynch make the list. Square also mentioned Eidos’ ”talented development” teams around the world. Will they all be safe?
The report also mentioned the total accumulated sales for each of the franchises with Tomb Raider in top place with 30 million. IO Interactive’s Hitman was next with 8.3 million followed by the cult classic Deus Ex with 2.4 million units.
Lastly there’s Kane & Lynch: Dead Men which has sold a respectable 1.7 million with its first title alone. The studios around the globe included teams from the UK, US, Canada, Germany, Denmark and more.
If the deal should be approved by shareholders then it would come into affect by April say Square Enix. Even if it is however the UK’s competition commission would need to investigate and ensure it is within the public’s interest.
