John Smedley of Sony Online Entertainment, the big boss, revealed that the 5 million user strong Free Realms will hit the PlayStation 3 ”next year sometime,” likely mid-2010.
The PlayStation Eye is ”going to be something” Free Realms will ”very likely” support. The free-to-play and micro-transaction MMO is hot, so hot it’s getting a Star Wars clone.
”I’m wondering, too!” was SOE president Smedley’s cheeky reply, reports Joystiq, when asked when Free Realms will be adding the PS3 to its dominion.
”It’s next year sometime, toward the middle of the year,” he said, adding, ”For the PlayStation 3 version, it’s very likely that the Eye is going to be something we support.”
Given the nature of the PlayStation Eye, it’s basically a webcam, you can expect Sony to be heavily vetting the whole process. Unless they plan for it to be used in conjunction with the impending spring time release of Sony’s motion tech…? Do you frequent Free Realms?
