EA and BioWare have announced the "highly anticipated sequel" will be gracing our lives early next year, but doesn't mention the PS3 at all.
A fresh new concept artwork has been released to the community from BioWare but otherwise all is quiet on the Mass Effect front. Hopefully a new teaser clip will go live soon.
"In this dark second chapter, Saren’s evil army of Geth soldiers has just been defeated, and humans, who are still struggling to make their mark on the galactic stage, are now faced with an even greater peril…" teased the press release opener.
"We’re going to surpass the extraordinary gaming experience we brought our fans in Mass Effect by delivering intensified combat and expanded weapon options as well as increased depth of planet exploration, all while delivering a powerful, emotionally engaging story," said BioWare CEO and General Manager Dr. Ray Muzyka.
"Mass Effect 2 is shaping up to be an unforgettable RPG-shooter experience, taking players on a non-stop roller-coaster ride filled with stunning plot twists and no-holds-barred action."
The developer has revealed previously that new DLC is coming for Mass Effect, in the form of a 'fight club', and a patch for the improved PC version of the game.
BioWare have some rather ambitious projects on the go right now, aside from Mass Effect 2 they're also hard at work on Dragon Age: Origins and Star Wars: The Old Republic.
