Yes the old MMO veteran is still going and has reached its first double digit year, which Sony plans to celebrate with a ”big birthday bash”.
SOE has announced its next Fan Faire convention will be at Bally’s Hotel in Las Vegas, June 25th to 29th this year. Sony has also dished out some interesting EverQuest trivia.
The game, the first to introduce the concept of the third dimension to the MMO, began humbly on March 16th, 1999. EverQuest is also accepted as the inspirational template for Blizzard’s World of Warcraft goliath.
Sony have also published a video to celebrate 10 years of continuous operation, spilling some of the MMOs dirty laundry - like just how infested the game is with rats (there’s 11,221); see the clip below. Are you a ten-year veteran of the online virtual world?
