A reader survey conducted by Game Informer magazine shows that just 45.8 percent of their Xbox 360 owners enjoy a Red Ring of Death free existence.
Apparently though only 3.8 percent would never buy another Xbox 360 because of a hardware snafu. 37.7 percent found Microsoft’s customer support ”very helpful,” Sony got higher.
From the same survey, readers revealed that 10.6 percent of them suffered a failed PlayStation 3 and 6.8 percent a dodgy Wii. The survey sample included nearly 5,000 readers.
Microsoft’s Xbox 360 was highlighted as the most used of the three consoles, with 40.3 percent of users playing them for 3 to 5 hours a day, compared to 37 percent for PS3. Wii owners who played their console for less than an hour a day stood at 41.4 percent.
The battle for best customer support is won by Nintendo according to Game Informer readers, with 56.1 percent saying they were very helpful. Sony sits at 51.1 percent but Microsoft plums the depths at 37.7 percent, mainly for taking a month to replace or repair consoles.
Myself? I am on my third Xbox 360 console, with the first having suffered an overheated ‘power brick’ and the second refusing to output any video signal. At least the first time it had the decency to give me a RROD… How about you, Xbox 360 owner?
