It’s the newest craze sweeping corporate America, film-based companies want a slice of the videogame pie and headhunt executives in the know.
Ex-EA higher up Kathy Vrabeck has been given the nod to run Legendary’s gaming division. Multiplatform, mobile and online casual projects are in the cards. First up? The Lost Patrol.
A supernatural thriller flick, The Lost Patrol will be the first subjected to this new venture from the company. They plan to capitalize on a whole bunch of intellectual properties.
Legendary Pictures are behind the planned screen adaptations for Gears of War and World of Warcraft. 2010 is the year for their cross-platform launch for The Lost Patrol, where it’ll go mobile, online casual and reach videogames.
The games industry is still sore from the loss of Brash Entertainment, which sought to explode IPs across all mediums; with its collapse went a lot of studios. At least if Legendary screw things up they should only end up taking themselves out.
