Sega delayed the release of Bayonetta from this year, penning it in for an early 2010. Producer Yusuke Hashimoto isn’t disappointed, they welcome the extra time.
It’s about ”80 percent” done, revealing the team have only made the ”really basic parts” which is the ”really good” and ”really fun” stuff. They can start polishing now, and balancing.
”In terms of development, we’re actually about 80 percent there,” said Hashimoto-san, speaking with VG247.
”We’ve only made the really basic parts, what makes the game really, really good, what makes the game really, really fun,” he continued. ”We’re at the stage to actually polish the game, to balance it out nicely; to make it really nice and tidy.”
As for Sega’s decision to delay the game, to avoid the Christmas crush of established titles, he’s not upset over the decision. ”No, we’re not disappointed,” he said.
”It was purely a business decision. We’ve got a lot of games coming from Sega already coming this year,” adding, ”Bayonetta is really, really important to us, and we want it to work very well, that’s why we decided to postpone until very early next year.”
Bayonetta is being released on Xbox 360 and PS3 early next year. See the gameplay clip below.
