Microsoft’s Australian exec Adam Pollington has said that Nintendo has done ”a very good job at broadening the market.”
The Wii has managed to reach traditional non-gamers, but when they’re ready to ”progress through gaming” to high-def the Xbox 360 is best choice thanks to price he said.
”Hats off to Nintendo, they have done a very good job at broadening the market. We’ve seen them sell consoles to people who potentially would never have picked up a console prior,” Pollington tells GameSpot in an interview.
”We do see a great opportunity from an Xbox 360 perspective as well. As these consumers who potentially never have bought a console prior, if they progress through gaming and decide to move to a high-definition console, Xbox 360 at that A$299 price point is very much a good value option for them,” noted the Australian Xbox marketing manager.
Casual Wii gamers might be enticed by some of the equally crazy things on offer over Xbox Live Arcade, but can the Nintendo console really ‘prep’ gamers to move onto high-def?
