Major new content will be releasing for the new MMO Aion every year revealed NCsoft brand manager Christian-Peter Heimbach. These will be free updates ”for all players”.
Exactly how they’ll be rolled out is still being decided upon, and ”how big the major updates” are going to be. It’s had some server flooding, sheer numbers could hurt its public opening.
Over 400k people have pre-ordered the MMO which means that many had access to the ‘head start’ promotion for Aion, letting those users have early access to the servers. The mass amounts of people logging in caused huge queues, some over seven hours long, in order to get into the game world.
”There will be at least one major update a year,” Heimbach told VG247.
”You know this from our previous titles. We’re currently adjusting on how we’re going to make these available, but there will be free content updates for all players, and we’re looking then at how big the major updates will be.”
Aion officially opens its doors in the US today, with the European opening this Friday. Let’s hope that NCsoft has some more servers up and running to help stave off over population.
