North Korea has invaded the United States… in THQ and Kaos Studios’ upcoming Homefront, set 10 years after the economic tumble of the USA.
The game’s script is written by John Milius, that guy who did Apocalypse Now and Red Dawn, and promises to deliver the ”unsettling notion” of an invaded America. Dun-dun-dun.
”Homefront isn’t about going to war on the other side of the world or battling aliens from another planet; it’s about fighting foreign invaders in your own backyard and defending your right to live,” said KAOS’ David Votypka, design director.
”Homefront combines the unsettling notion of an occupied America with interactive, player-driven narratives to create a deeply engaging single and multiplayer experience.”
As an infantry man you’ll be commanding a number of ground and aerial vehicles to spill unwelcomed North Korean blood on patriotic American soil. It’s set ten years after the collapse of the US economy and follows the Civilian Resistance striking back.
”Kaos Studios is using powerful narrative and environmental storytelling to create a plausible, near-futuristic setting where the people of a once mighty nation must fight to maintain their existence,” said Kevin Kraff of THQ.
”This harsh backdrop will be the foundation for an emotionally-charged single-player campaign and an intense multiplayer experience.” There’s nothing like a good invasion is there? Many games have capitalised from this premise, creating gems like Freedom Fighters from IO Interactive and of course World in Conflict from Massive Entertainment.
Homefront is being developed for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC by Kaos Studios.
