According to industry persons, the subsidiary developer Metropolis Software has been closed down by owner CD Projekt prior to the finalization of the Optimus buyout deal.
Metropolis was purchased in February ‘08, and downsized earlier this year. Now it’s closed down with its shooter project, They, put ”on hold” with no resurrection prospects, for now.
”Prior to the recent Optimus acquisition and the subsequent market listing of the company, CD Projekt shut down Metropolis Software by letting the final developing and managerial staff go or giving them positions in CD Projekt and CD Projekt: Red,” reports GameBanshee.
They claim to have learnt the demise of Metropolis and They from ”an industry contact”.
Currently CD Projekt is full steam on their sequel work for The Witcher, which has already been leaked by way of an ‘internal’ video surfacing on the Internet. So far the developer has offered the usual ”no comment” response to Metropolis and its believed closure.
