A rather nasty bug has been found in Borderlands, and not the colourful type you smoosh with guns or fists in-game. This bug is linked to all three platforms when going online.
It can cause, though its frequency is ”very low”, all character skills to be wiped clean. Developer Gearbox hope to ”repair as much” character data loss as possible, when fixed.
Naturally this bug is devastating to a game all about skill progression, but seems only linked to those who’ve played multiplayer sessions with fellow Vault hunters.
”We’re working on it. Unfortunately there isn’t a fix just yet, but when one is available we hope to be able to repair as much of your character data as possible,” Gearbox told one user.
Weapon proficiencies are recoverable from the bug’s aftermath but skills lost are said to be permanently lost, meaning that players have had to start all over again. This doesn’t look good and hopefully Gearbox can correct the ticking bomb before the community tanks.
Borderlands is released on PC this week in the US and Europe, having hit consoles last week in both already. Have you been struck with this game-crippler?
