Finnish developer Housemarque has announced their grinding pixels on three new IPs, covering a range of platforms with one a PSN exclusive.
There also on their first multi-platformer for ”a leading publisher,” as well as looking to self-publish their third property called Rope. The Sony exclusive should be spilled this August at GamesCom 2009.
“They’re both in matters we haven’t dealt with before,” said Housemarque’s boss Ilari Kuittinen, speaking with Gamasutra.
”One of the games is a PSN exclusive for Sony again, continuing our good relationship with them,” he continued and revealed more will be known at GamesCom 2009 in Cologne this summer.
”We are doing also currently our first multiplatform game, for a leading publisher. Again, something different from the past. We haven’t done this kind of a game genre before.”
As for their self-published dreams for Rope: ”What we are currently doing is games for publishers, but we’d love to go games of our own,” said Kuittinen. ”Doing what Team 17 is doing for instance, doing our own games. We hope Rope will be one of the first games we will publish, late next year.”
The concept of the game is attaching the player avatar to rope, and then messing around with the physics involved over about 50 planned levels or so. It’s likely the game would head to PSN at least, though Housemarque is keen to get XBLA on board too.
”What we’ve been able to accomplish in the last 6 months is pitch new IPs for downloadable games. Most of the games out there are new versions of older games, it seems. We’ve been lucky enough to sell our own ideas to publishers.”
