Publisher Square Enix is confident of the upcoming Final Fantasy XIII blowing past 6 million sales thanks to the recent price cuts for the next-gen consoles. It’s out December.
At least it’s out in Japan anyway. Square also reveal their plans to launch eight titles with each securing over 2 million sales. Two or three of these titles are already in development.
President Yoichi Wada of Square Enix announced their ambitious two year goal, which means fans could see a major release each quarter of the year from the publisher. It also means they’re stepping outside of Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hearts.
Square Enix now owns Eidos which means they are likely referring to some of their line-up as well in this eight blockbuster plan. Final Fantasy XIII sells like super hot cakes in Japan and Square expect it will beat it’s predecessor’s global 6 million copy performance on PS2.
Final Fantasy XIII is being released on PS3 in Japan on December 17th, with a release on Xbox 360 and PS3 in North America and Europe early next year. Are price cuts enough?
