Microsoft has stepped forward and explained what all the kerfuffle was about with yesterday’s launch for the Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Map Pack.
”Through a process failure on our part, the Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package was released before the Title Update (TU) for MW2 was available,” explained Operations Manager Eric Neustadter.
According to Neustadter, releasing the maps before the TU was ready caused some serious technical problems.
”For a couple of hours the result was unpredictable but most people couldn’t get into a game through matchmaking. In technical terms, it was a big hairball that we had to unwind.”
Microsoft has a 30-day exclusivity period on the map pack, before it is then allowed to be released over the PSN.
