Broadcaster CBS wasn’t happy with EA’s Dante’s Inferno ad that they submitted for a premium slot during Sunday’s NFL Super Bowl.
The violence and all that was fine, but its ”Go To Hell” message was not. This tagline first struck in its debut trailer. EA alters it for CBS.
Publisher EA has quick thinkers in marketing, luckily for them, so they have stripped out telling Americans during the Super Bowl to ”Go To Hell” and instead say ”Hell Awaits” them. The Super Bowl is a huge deal to the US, mainly advertisers.
It’s costing EA a pretty mint or two to get their ad slot, which is apparently joined by a pro-life campaign from the group ‘Focus on the Family’, reports Eurogamer. Those Americans, so touchy about the subject of hell.
Dante’s Inferno releases on Xbox 360 and PS3 this Friday. Check the trailer.
