More integration with other devices is on their mind too, like managing Madden NFL teams on your iPhone with an app. Remains an ally to Wii.
”When I look at my world of EA Sports, Tiger, NFL, the ability to bring that to life on mobile is huge,” Moore told investors at the Morgan Stanley conference, reports GamePro.
”Great IP that is recognizable is king on this platform,” he added and also sees it as ”a great on ramp to our console games.” These plans could effectively prolong the life of ”packaged goods” through supplementary digital platforms and apps.
They’ve also grown larger thanks to the rise in fitness games, with EA managing to draw in a huge new audience more than 50 percent female. ”This is a consumer that is actually moving their dollars away from Adidas or Nike and into EA Sports,” said Moore.
”The one thing that we should all pay attention to is that interactive fitness takes us into a different category”, he said where EA competes with big brand names.
EA Sports Active is big on the Nintendo Wii but ideas like monthly subscriptions for access to ”topical” updates would be a problem as Nintendo tightly control their digital space for the motion console, but EA won’t be leaving the platform.
”We’re great believers in the Wii,” affirmed Moore. EA won’t be porting titles to the console, instead favouring they be built from the ground up despite future games likely pro-motion anyway thanks to Project Natal and Sony’s Arc.
Micro-transactions/subscriptions look to be in EA’s future… will you resist?
