They asked ”the players themselves” this time around, not industry insiders. Halo takes the top spot, followed by Call of Duty, and then Zelda.
”We decided to take a different approach with this list than we did in the previous edition,” said Gaz Deaves, the Guinness gaming editor, reports VG247.
”Instead of asking developers, industry insiders and journalists to rank their favorite titles, we approached a different kind of expert: the players themselves.”
“We are confident that this ‘top 50′ more accurately reflects the tastes of the average gamer and not just the critics,” he stated. They created the list of Top 50 by holding an online survey between January and August 2009, and asked over 13,000 of us gamers.
