It’s a super game changer, in fact. Microsoft already make ”tens and tens of millions” off Halo merchandise, and a film would explode that higher.
”We’re going to make a movie when the time is right,” O’Connor said during a speech at the MI6 Conference in San Francisco, reports IGN. ”We own the IP. If we want to make a movie, the scale of all the other stuff that we do changes dramatically.”
”We make tens and tens of millions of dollars on ancillary stuff, toys, apparel, music and publishing. If we do a movie all of that will grow exponentially. We have some numbers if we do a movie, but it changes everything.”
”It also changes our target and age demographic,” added the 343 boss. Microsoft give their blessing to a Halo movie - it’s official - providing they get the blessing of your wallet.
Are you looking forward to a Halo movie hitting the silver screen? Surely Microsoft is too powerful to let Hollywood types hijack such an epic scale undertaking, and let them flood in cheesy product placements and 80’s era one liners… ?
