Square has confessed they ”mistakenly” included these comparison shots, that were ”taken for pre-production” and not for public use.
”Unfortunately we did mistakenly include screenshots taken for pre-production (non-promotional use only) in our latest release of assets. Screenshots from the final game intended for the press kit will be released shortly,” Square told Kotaku.
”As shown in our recent demo tour and Microsoft’s X10 event, there is no material difference between the two consoles.” Originally when contacted the publisher said they’d look into the matter, with a twitter going out saying just that.
”We are looking into how the #FFXIII altered screens ended up in our presskit &will update asap. This was obviously not intentional…” posted SquareEnixSonia.
Later she added: ”..Aside from easily being proven as altered, and this method not being one we use, we don’t feel there is a need to enhance the X360 #FFXIII”
Final Fantasy XIII’s arrival on Xbox 360 is already a major coup for Microsoft, but worries of quality dropping compared to a ‘superior’ PS3 release have plagued the otherwise great win for the rival platform. Let’s hope Square Enix learn their lesson here.
Do you plan on getting Final Fantasy XIII for Xbox 360 or PS3? It’s out March 9th.
