Dubbed the ”Automated Direct Transaction and Delivery System”, this new patent would automatically detect whether a player has the required content to play in a particular session, whether online or offline.
”Upon detection,” the patent reads, ”of missing content or resources the ATDDC provides direct bid to purchase the content or resources, provides for automatic download, installation and configuration of the content while allowing the player to remain in contact with other players within a party.”
In other words, if you were invited to play a game and were missing, say, a map, this new system would (assuming you wanted the content you were missing) proceed to purchase, download and then install the map, whilst still allowing you to talk to your friends.
Sounds like a new expedient way to get your DLC on the fly, without the usual hassle. Interesting.
