Rumours peg Enslaved’s Ninja Theory as the studio behind the new DMC instalment. Keiji Inafune has hinted a western team for DMC before.
The May issue of Game Informer magazine added fuel to the fire: “Loose Talk has learned that Enslaved isn’t the only game Ninja Theory is working on-we’ve heard that the Cambridge, England developer is being tapped for the next Devil May Cry.”
”It is not totally unexpected, however; Capcom has said that although it is shying away from Western developer for new IP, it would continue to utilize them for known franchises, which DMC certainly is.”
Keiji Inafune, Capcom’s head of R&D, said that Devil May Cry needs a more ”western touch” given its low sales in Europe and North America. This very thinking has of course applied to Dead Rising 2 which releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC September 24th.
Are you looking forward to a more westernised Devil May Cry if the rumours are true? The Tokyo Game Show for 2010 kicks off tomorrow, September 16th.
UPDATE: Capcom has officialy announced a new Devil May Cry and it’s being developed by Ninja Theory starring a ”younger Dante” in touch with youth culture.
