A game like this ”can live pretty long” without DLC they say, thanks to all the side attractions on offer. Plan a website for tracking gamer stats.
”Yeah, we’re going to have some fun with DLC,” declared lead designer Peter Johansson, speaking with Eurogamer, ”but unfortunately I can’t talk about the specifics.” Just Cause 2’s campaign is between 15-20 hours long but a small fraction of the game.
Much like Grand Theft Auto, the real charm of Just Cause 2 is the world itself and all the things you can be doing on the side, either for rewards or just pure fun. ”We’re going to have a lot of DLC. We’ll see what happens,” he added.
”DLC is important, but a game like Just Cause 2 can live pretty long because it’s not just playing through the story and being done with it - there’s the completion rating and playing with friends. That’s what we do in the office!”
The PlayStation 3 version comes with a YouTube feature which lets gamers capture footage of their crazed antics and then upload for all the world to see. ”It was decided it was going to be an exclusive feature,” added the dev, meaning no Xbox 360 or PC support for it. ”You know how it can be in the business.”
The developer plans a stat tracking website.
”I’m not sure what the plans are from Square’s side, but we are definitely going to do that for the game; we’ll have these metrics, lots of metrics, and everything in as simple a form as we can do,” added Johansson. ”In this game it’s really fun to track completion rating as well, because this game is going to take people a long time to do!”
Just Cause 2 releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC March 26th.
