The Arab state will not permit the sale of the game so it joins others like Heavy Rain and Darksiders. Red Dead Redemption retails this week.
Allegedly a retailer in a Dubai mall has confirmed that Rockstar Games’ cowboy action adventure has indeed been banned by the higher ups.
This doesn’t seem to stop many getting a hold of such titles though as smaller retailers tend to slip them through… thanks capitalism! A clear ”no comment” has been issued by the region’s publisher Red Entertainment, reports VG247.
Other games banned by the UAE’s National Media Council have been Heavy Rain,
God of War 3 and Darksiders - with EA not even bothering to try and get Dante’s Inferno released to the Arab state. RDR’s ban has actually hit some by surprise.
Red Dead Redemption releases on Xbox 360 and PS3 May 18th in the US, which is tomorrow, and on May 21st in Europe. Check out the launch trailer below.
