It's to draw more from "the famous book trilogy," than the hit movies. It follows it's "own distinct path" as players form their own fellowship.
This new LOTR from Snowblind "advances the RPG paradigm through innovative online, interdependent co-op play for up to three players who form their own Fellowship to fight Sauron’s forces in the North," blurbs the press release.
Players can fully customise their characters and play co-op with friends as they romp through "previously untold stories in the realm of Middle-earth", all during the events of Frodo and the Ring. It's releasing on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC next year.
"The game features stunning visuals, brutally realistic combat, a unique and compelling new story, and innovative cooperative gameplay that pits you and your friends against the dark forces of Middle-earth."
Snowblind Games were behind RPG Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. An official website has gone live teasing all the details yet to come for the ambitious Warner Bros title. Check out the newly released teaser trailer for The Lord of the Rings: War in the North.
