EA Sports, as claimed by a source, may well be looking to sue the show for copyright infringement for displaying a new ‘Tiger Woods game’.
Apparently ”soon after the airing of the episode the top beef were called in, even Peter Moore was informed of the situation,” claims the source, reports Daily Informer.
They added that “before the episode aired the marketing folks were already worried, but now they have a lot more to worry about”. The source later said that “while I personally found the episode quite funny, there are definitely a few copyright infringements in there that I’m sure will be dealt with accordingly”.
Scenes from the South Park episode show Tiger Woods and his wife beating each other up, which is revealed as a level from the upcoming ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11’. It also features the car crash as an action sequence, with the golf game then also turning into a brawler in similar fashion to Street Fighter IV - yes it’s pure South Park genius.
Hopefully EA Sports will back down from doing something stupid like trying to sue South Park and its creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, who’ve shrugged off far greater opponents in the past. Learn from Blizzard and the World of Warcraft episode…
