Boxed sales suffered year-on-year decline for ‘09, but still bested digital in units. Blizzard’s 2 digital store fronts where among the top US five.
From the NPD numbers the ”frontline” digital stores where who you’d expect with Valve’s Steam coming numero uno, followed by Direct2Drive, then Blizzard, then the EA Store and finally World of Warcraft. These were calculated by unit percentage share.
The good news is that means near 45m PC games sold in 2009. The PlayStation 3 cleared 33 million, Xbox 360 hit 53 million and Nintendo Wii got greedy with 72 million.
