Japan’s Nikkei believe that Sony’s quarter net profit is 30bn yen ($342m), and will be reporting it soon. It’s all those cuts to cost they say.
April-June ‘09 saw Sony experience a 25.7bn yen loss, so this net gain is welcome indeed. Even PlayStation division is said to be clear of the red.
No you haven’t slipped in an alternate universe like out of hit TV show Fringe. You are in fact witnessing Sony pull its fiscal rear out of the frying pan of recession. For the 3 month period ended June 30th Sony will post a healthy profit thanks to ”aggressive cost-cutting”.
This sees the corporate giant climb out of the red and back into the black. The PlayStation division has proved a continuous bleed but that’s changed too this quarter.
