In the fiscal year just past for Microsoft they sold 10.3m units, while Sony reveals they managed 14.3m. Totals are apart by less than 4m.
The battle is heating up and Microsoft could lose their larger share sooner than they'd like to admit. Of course many see this as inevitable, but a spanner is in the works for Sony if the Kinect motion platform proves as hot as Microsoft predicts it will.
Not to mention that Xbox 360 likely has some price drops planned in early 2011 to help shift even more of Kinect after the holidays. It's still going to be a while yet before Sony are drooling over their own press releases, screaming they're number one.
Recently Microsoft UK's Brett Siddons said Kinect was "very competitively priced" compared to PlayStation Move and Nintendo Wii. He was referring to Kinect's value for money as its 'peripheral' is 2 controllers in one, unlike Move and Wii.
How long do you think it will be before PlayStation 3 'passes' Xbox 360?
