Fredrik Wester of Magicka fame has said it's "more like a GTA wannabe" than the original game, and he knows because Starbreeze are his neighbours.
Rumours have pointed the finger at Starbreeze for quite some time, that they are behind the upcoming Syndicate revival on behalf of EA. Wester of Paradox Interactive said it was "more like a GTA wannabe than it's like the original game."
Syndicate was created by Bullfrog Productions back in 1993 for PC, and it was an isometric feast of militant corporate warfare. Cyborg agents roamed the streets taking out executives of rival corporate entities. It got a sequel in 1996.
Starbreeze developed The Darkness for Xbox 360 and PS3, and also gave us
The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena which included a remake of the original Escape from Butcher Bay for free. Does a GTA-esque Syndicate sound good?
