It's based off Epic's Unreal Development Kit, and it plays out in 3D arenas. RuneStorm are an indie studio of 3 guys out of South Africa. It's their first commercial title.

"Knights decapitate, mighty Rooks smash their way through and Mages burst hapless Pawns like tomatoes. The etiquette of this game is sheer brutality!"
It supports multiplayer as well as just going solo with the AI. It'll feature "several sets of pieces" and various game modes to play through. Rooks Keep is still "deep in development" right now with no release date in sight. Visit the for more.
