Electronic Arts has confirmed that Battlefield 3 won’t be showing up on Steam, chiefly because of Valve’s policy regarding downloadable content.
In the official company twitter feed, EA tweeted, ”BF3 will not be available on Steam as the service restricts our ability to directly support players.”
The reason is that Valve stipulates that DLC must be downloaded through Valve, and prohibits DLC delivery through an in-game client.
Electronic Arts has promised that Origin, EA’s own digital distribution system, won’t be the sole way to purchase the game, and that other sites like Direct2Drive, Impulse and GamersGate will have Battlefield 3.
